Indianapolis, Ind. (July 27, 2018) – Rising Star Racing’s (RSR) Josef Newgarden and Spencer Pigot are set to compete in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio this coming weekend.

Newgarden returns to Mid-Ohio after winning the race in 2017.

“We ran a really strong race there last year and have had some good luck on road courses this season, so we’re feeling pretty good going into the weekend”, Newgarden said.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will be the ninth race on a road course in 2018 and the 34thIndyCar race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Last season, Pigot gained the 16-position in the qualifying-session; however, he finished the race in the 19-position.

“I’ve always loved driving at Mid-Ohio since I first went there in 2010”, Pigot said. “It’s a very challenging track that takes a lot of commitment and precision to be fast in an IndyCar.”

Newgarden and Pigot are ready to focus on the race and to get over the disappointment about their last performance in the Honda Indy Toronto.

“The race weekend at Toronto didn’t go the way we were hoping, but we’re ready to put that behind us and really focus on Mid-Ohio”, Newgarden said. “The entire No. 1 Hitachi Chevrolet team and myself are ready to head back to Mid-Ohio and have a great performance to gain more championship points”

“We’ve definitely made a lot of improvements to the Fuzzy’s Vodka car the past few races, so I can’t wait to see how we stack up”, Pigot added.

Art Wilmes, RSR’s Founder and CEO, trusts in Newgarden and Pigot’s talent.

“I am very excited for Mid-Ohio this weekend. Josef had great success last season here and I look for him to have the same success this year”, Wilmes said. “Spencer is improving and he continues to show progress. I look for him to have better results this year and a stronger finish in the end. RSR continues to refine its craft and I am proud of where Josef and Spencer are at this far into the season. We have a lot left to give and we are competing all the way to the end of the season.”
